Level 3 Wins at Multi-Point, Zolmo

January 29th, 2010 by · 2 Comments

It has been quite some time since the PR department at Level 3 Communications (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) has gotten such a good workout.  Yesterday the company’s Content Markets division won an interesting deal with Zolmo to deliver Jamie Oliver “20 Minute Meals” to the iPhone.  They will be providing caching, geo-targeting, and streaming video, amongst other services.  Now, I for one would cringe at propping up my iPhone in the kitchen while I cook, let’s just say I’m not known for maintaining a clean counter and leaving it at that.  But then, I don’t actually own an iPhone yet either … but I’m all for burning that bandwidth!

Today Level 3’s Business Markets group announced a contract with Multi-Point Communications, a  provider of audio and web conferencing based in the southeast.  They will be providing a laundry list of services to the company’s Atlanta and Birmingham offices dedicated internet access, toll-free, voice-termination, private line and colocation, unifying Multi-Point’s traffic onto the Level 3 backbone.

Combined with the Wholesale Markets group’s win at TDS Telecom earlier this week, all three divisions got some quality air time.  Hopefully that will translate into a similar broad-based recovery in their financials throughout 2010.

An inventor like you, shouldn’t find it difficult to envision a receptacle somewhere in the kitchen to place any “device” or “screen” that contains the recipe you’re embarking upon. As a matter of fact, I keep envisioning future homes with large screens representing picture windows with real time streams of any environment I feel like surrounding myself with, depending upon my mood. Let’s go to Paris for some fine cuisine today, instead! 🙂 With a broadband connection, you are only stymied by your own imagination! BTW, where’s the revenue projection TDS guesstimate on your behalf???? LOL!
