Two More Data Centers for Zayo

May 5th, 2017 by · 1 Comment

Zayo quietly made another acquisition yesterday.  The Boulder-based infrastructure company has completed the purchase of two data centers from KIO Networks for $12M, boosting its infrastructure in southern California further.

KIO has some 32 data center locations, the majority of which are in Latin America and especially Mexico.  The two Zayo has bought are in San Diego at 12,270 World Trade Drive and 9606 Aero Drive, and represent a significant piece of KIO’s small presence north of the border.  The acquired data centers span some 100K square feet with 2MW of power available.

The deal is complementary to Zayo’s ongoing west coast expansion.  Lately that means their integration of the Electric Lightwave assets of course, but Zayo actually started building out metro fiber in San Diego via the inorganic route back in 2011.  The addition of colo space there gives them zColo data centers in all of California’s major metro areas now.

The pre-synergy acquisition EBITDA multiple is 9.6
