Int’l Bytes: Orange, f6, NTT, EdgeConneX

Here’s some news from around the world that’s worth a quick look:

Orange Business is taking on the fashion business. Melon Fashion Group has tapped them for a ‘virtual fitting room’ that leverages immersive videoconferencing. Designers for the brands Zarina, Love Republic, and befree in the Russian city of St. Petersburg will use the capabilities to collaborate with manufacturing teams in China. The next step I guess will be doing that sort of thing via virtual reality.

Up in northeastern Canada, f6 Networks has picked up some government business. The government of New Brunswick has tapped the regional operator for 100G DWDM wavelength services between Fredericton, Saint John, and Moncton. At the core of that network will be Ciena’s packet-optical gear.

NTT Communications is taking its cloud connectivity to a new destination. They’ve extended their Multi-Cloud Connect solution into Oracle Cloud, a capability they will take to their multi-national customers around the world. They’re already hooked up to the usual suspects at AWS, Microsoft, and such of course.

And EdgeConneX as another internet exchange partner hooked up, this time across the Atlantic. NL-ix has established a PoP in the company’s Amsterdam Edge Data Center. NL-ix operates an exchange fabric that connects up more than 100 carrier neutral data centers across Europe, and boasts a peak traffic of 1.7Tbps. For its part, EdgeConneX began its European expansion in Amsterdam last year.
