Ireland’s enet Makes Move on UK

March 2nd, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

According to reports this morning, the UK will soon be getting a new bandwidth competitor. The Irish open access provider enet has signed a network partnership with SSE Enterprise Telecoms, giving them optical reach throughout the UK.

SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ reach stretches across 13,700 route miles of fiber hitting 75+ data centers and 265+ PoPs. Combined with its existing Irish footprint, enet will therefore reach much of the British Isles with its wholesale business model.

enet is owned by the private investment firm Granaham McCourt, which has poured in up to €100M since acquiring it and AirSpeed a few years ago. They’ve been investing in other UK opportunities as well, seeing lots of opportunity over there I guess.
