CenturyLink Acquires netAura

March 30th, 2016 by · Leave a Comment

Security service offerings continue to be a key focus area for network operators in 2016, and CenturyLink did some M&A today to further augment its efforts in that arena.  CenturyLink has announced the acquisition of northern-Virginia-based netAura LLC.

netAura offers engineering, developing, and consulting in the managed security arena for both enterprises and government agencies, with special emphasis on the implementation side.  The deal will bring that expertise in-house for CenturyLink, adding depth to their managed security portfolio.

While many large US telecoms are considering their options in the cloud and data center segment, they all seem quite bullish in the managed services space and particularly when it comes to managed security services.  It’s an area in which the technology is expected to evolve rapidly, and where there is only so much talent to go around.  That makes for fertile ground for this sort of acquisition.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
