Akamai Bolsters Security Portfolio With Bloxx

November 2nd, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Akamai made a small but interesting acquisition this morning. In an all cash transaction, they have purchased the Scottish security vendor Bloxx.

Bloxx’s specialty has been secure web gateway technology and web/mail filtering for the enterprise. Akamai will be taking Bloxx’s technology and making it a part of that broader enterprise offerings, as well as integrating the company’s talent into their own workforce.

Akamai has for some time now been expanding from its core CDN business into parts of the cloud services business, and especially into enterprise security. They plan to bring a new suite of real-time security solutions to market next year, and Bloxx’s SWG will be a key piece of that.
