Vendor Roundup: Cisco, Infinera, Broadsoft, Sonus

Several interesting vendor items that are worth a look from the start of the week:

Cisco led off this morning with an acquisition. They have agreed to acquire Alpharetta-based Lancope, Inc., which specializes in network visibility and security intelligence applications. The purchase will give Cisco some extra firepower in the rapidly developing network security markets, and they’re paying some $452.5Mm in cash to make it happen.

Infinera has won another of Equinix’s data center interconnection expansions. Their Cloud Xpress product will power Equinix’s market in Tokyo, connecting up four data centers there with those 500Gbps super-channels. They did the same thing recently over in Hong Kong.

Broadsoft says it has integrated its UC platform with that of Oracle Communications. The partnership brings together Broadsoft’s voice, video, screen, and file-sharing with Oracle’s messaging, calendar, presence, and contact management.  Oracle of course also bought Acme Packet a few years ago, whose session border controllers BroadSoft also uses.

And yesterday Sonus and Dorado have teamed up for a bit of service orchestration. They’ve integrated Sonus’s session border controller with Dorado’s Redcell platform, allowing the latter to manage, activate, and orchestrate the SBC software virtually. Sonus plans to follow up with Diameter and VellOS as well.

They all cooperate as everyone knows you can’t afford to work alone. The success comes only in a team-play. As I see on the konstruktor the teamwork influenced the process a lot.
