GTT Makes Another Move, Acquires UNSi

GTT has made another inorganic move with the acquisition of UNSi. It’s a $40M deal that will add $55M in annualized revenues, boosting GTT’s turnover to somewhere near $250M and taking them into some new lines of business.

UNSi has long specialized in MPLS, Ethernet and managed services, which will complement GTT’s offerings nicely. They also acquired Airband last year, which took them into the worlds of fixed wireless and VoIP as well. VoIP services seem like a logical addition to GTT’s portfolio, but I wonder what they have planned for the fixed wireless assets.

Last year GTT purchased Inteliquent’s IP and Ethernet business, merging that with the nLayer and PacketExchange assets it had previously acquired. They operate one of the world’s largest transit backbones, which for at least the last year or so has been a friendlier neighborhood than in the past according to Telegeography.

But it’s in Ethernet and cloud networking that GTT sees its future growth, and the acquisition of UNSi will definitely give them some more scale there.  They have a goal of reaching $400M and $100M in annualized revenue and EBITDA, which will probably entail some more inorganic moves like this one.
