Boulder Gets Some More Zayo Fiber

October 22nd, 2014 by · 2 Comments

Zayo’s first move after taking its story public with an IPO last week was close to home.  The Boulder, Colorado-based fiber builder and operator has announced a new fiber buildout in a town it knows quite well: Boulder, Colorado.

TRImage_225 Oct. 22Zayo plans to add some 93 route miles to its network in the Boulder area.  With about 100,000 residents in the town and another 200,000 in the neighboring areas, Boulder isn’t all that big and 93 route miles will go a long way.  The new fiber will hook up to the 800 route miles of fiber Zayo has along the rest of Colorado’s Front Range.

The company moved its headquarters into downtown Boulder back in 2013, just in time for the big floods that summer that washed down out of the nearby mountains.  It’s a town with a lot of entrepreneurial activity, and just the sort of place you’d expect to find some bandwidth-hungry tech startups.
