Here’s a quick rundown of recent data news:

CoreSite has a new, growing tenant out in Denver. Global Capacity is expanding its One Marketplace offering with a new PoP at their campus in the Mile High city. Global Capacity recently announced the acquisition of MegaPath’s wholesale telecom business, which when complete will greatly expand their presence in the industry. CoreSite’s Denver colo footprint dates back only two years to their acquisition of Comfluent.

tw telecom’s national fiber buildout reached the southwest corner of the country yesterday. They detailed the expansion of their metro footprint in San Diego, where they are adding connectivity north to the Carlsbad area. They had already announced new fiber up in the LA and SF regions earlier this year. The merger with Level 3 is looming large now as Q4 approaches.

TW Cable has added new capabilities to its Business Class Ethernet offerings.  Along with the CE 2.0 certification they achieved earlier this year, they’ve now integrated their metro reach with their national backbone and third party connectivity to offer national coverage, and they’ve enhanced their customer portal, added some tiers, and now offer network management.  The idea is to start expanding upstream to the mid-market from the SME where cable MSOs have found so much early success.

Equinix won some incumbent business for its colocation business down under. Telstra is deploying in both SY3 in Sydney and ME1 in Melbourne. The latter is Equinix’s first IBX in Melbourne, and its first phase will go online in Q4 of this year.

And on the international front, Orange is enhancing its global business VPN service. They’re adding internet to the mix, complementing their IP VPN connectivity and providing global businesses with a uniform interface to the internet that is less sensitive to local interference and allows prioritization of traffic. Meanwhile, in the world of M2M Orange launched worldwide geolocation, allowing customers to pin down the location of an M2M SIM card anywhere in the world.
