VoIP Roundup: OSN, Bandwidth, MegaPath, 8×8

Here’s a few quick takes on news from the VoIP and UC world this week:

In some VoIP M&A news, One Source Networks has acquired the assets and customers of the wholesale VoIP provider StarView Solutions. The purchase of Austin-based StarView will expand OSN’s reach and service offerings, as well as add 2B annual voice minutes and 14M peered DIDs.

TDS Telecom has tapped Bandwidth to expand its Business VoIP capabilities. They’ll be using an array of VoIP and UC services to expand out of their CLEC footprint and into the rest of the country. TDS Telecom is perhaps the largest US service provider that I know the least about, but they seem to be growing more aggressive in the enterprise space lately.

MegaPath is making a move deeper into Unified Communications with a little help from CounterPath. MegaPath will be using CounterPath’s Bria offerings to bring managed UC to their enterprise clients.  I’m expecting further consolidation in the months ahead in this sector.  MegaPath was rumored to be bidding for Cbeyond before Birch stepped in, and I suspect they may have other possible targets in mind.

And 8×8 is looking for some channel action, inking a deal with Telecom Brokerage Inc this week.  TBI’s network of agents and VARs will have 8×8’s VoIP and UC solutions in their quiver.
