Netflix Reaches Another Traffic Agreement

Watch what they do, not what they say. If you needed any further evidence that Netflix’s antics lately have been more about negotiating position than net neutrality principles, you got it yesterday. Netflix did another interconnection deal with a big last mile operator: Verizon.

Netflix will be moving quickly now to establish direct connections into Verizon’s network. We can expect the same sort of throughput boost they got with Comcast. Netflix’s speeds to Verizon’s FIOS and DSL users had been, err, lagging for the same reasons.

I wonder if they’ll complain about having done this one under protest in a blog post or two as well. After all, there’s still AT&T…
