FirstLight, Fibrenoire Meet at the Border

Two regional and metro operators on either side of the US/Canada border have teamed up. Albany-based FirstLight Fiber and Montreal-based Fibrenoire say they have formed a deeper relationship for Ethernet connectivity across the border.

Fibrenoire operates network in Montreal, Toronto, and Quebec City.  FirstLight Fiber’s assets stretch across the far northeast from the greater Albany metro area to Bangor, Maine.

The interconnection will give each company simplified connectivity options in the other’s territory, as each has MEF 2.0 compliant services which make such relationships even easier these days.

It makes sense for FirstLight and Fibrenoire to interconnect, as the two regions have always had close ties with the other — except of course when it comes to the NHL playoffs and such.
