Colo Roundup: CyrusOne, Cologix, Viawest, Telehouse, Net Access

There have been several interesting developments in colo and cloud infrastructure this week:

CyrusOne is expanding yet further in Texas. They’ve purchased 22 acres in the MetCenter business park down in Austin. They’ll use all that land to add to the 54,000 square feet of colo space they have in the city. CyrusOne says that the property it now has in the DASH cities can support 2.5M gross square feet of data center capacity, which would be thre times their current footprint if it were all built out.

Cologix has announced a significant downtown expansion up in Minneapolis. They’re building out an additional 28,000 square feet at 511 11th Avenue, which will double their footprint when it comes online later this year. Cologix’s Minneapolis presence originated with the acquisition of the Minneapolis Gateway a year and a half ago.

ViaWest continued to expand its efforts to bring the benefits of cloud technology to the healthcare vertical. They’ve launched a HIPAA-compliant cloud offering featuring an audit-ready Compliance-as-a-Service solution. They’re working with Abnology to put it all together.

Telehouse has formed a strategic relationship with tw telecom Manhattan, continuing to add depth to its overall ecosystem across its New York area footprint. The latter is connecting its Ethernet network into Telehouse’s Chelsea facility at 85 10th Ave.  tw telecom has been actively building its profile in the New York metro area, which not so long ago wasn’t one of its major markets.

And in New Jersey, Net Access has hired itself a new CEO to help with the next phase of the company’s growth in the data center and cloud services space.  Raul Martynek will take over the reins from Blake Ellman, who will move to the CTO role and focus on product development.  Martynek most recently led the cloud services provider Voxel, which was sold to Internap in January 2012.
