Early next week I'll be on my way back to the USA again, so if something big happens Monday and I'm not quick off the draw, you'll know why. In the meantime, it's Friday and time for a quick roundup of news from the cloud and datacenter sectors.
Cologix is expanding its Canadian footprint again, this time in Quebec. They've announced plans to add 26,000 square feet at 1155 University Street in Montreal, with the first phase goinge online by the end of the year. The new facility will have a direct connection to their main location at 1250 Rene Levesque West.
CyrusOne has formally opened the first phase of the 160,000 square foot expansion they've been working on since last September down at their Houston West campus. The first 40K square feet have now been commissioned, and when the rest come online they'll have 300K square feet with 32MW of power in all.
In the financial vertical, Equinix won yet another market platform at its Slough campus. FastMatch has launched a new ECN matching engine at LD4/5, which will complement their FX Spot and metals ECN matching engine on the other side of the Atlantic in Equinix's NY4. Equinix has taken the brunt of some shifting winds in the REIT regulatory world, but not much has changed operationally.
And EarthLink has a new partner from the CRM segment. GoldMine announced this week that their service can be combined with EarthLink's hosted virtual desktop service. More partners means more opportunities for EarthLink in its quest to transform into a cloud-based IT services provider. Equinix has been busy for the last few quarters rolling out its new fiber and data center expansion.
