Level 3 Invests In New Colombian Data Center

March 18th, 2013 by · 3 Comments

If there’s one place in the world that Level 3 Communications (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) is having no problem finding demand, it’s South America. Hence, their announcement today construction plans for a new data center in Colombia won’t come as a total shock.  There has been a steady stream of talk from the company about expanding the company’s infrastructure in the region.

The new 500 square meter facility will be designed to support the company’s managed services capabilities, and will go online sometime in the second quarter of 2013. It will be the company’s 14th facility in Latin America.

Colombia has become a growth market for internet infrastructure in the past few years, finally putting some of its past behind it and moving to compete with the likes of Brazil, Chile, and Argentina economically.  Most of the projects are still relatively small, however the momentum does seem to be building.

Just looked at LVLT’s share price. $20.60/$1.37. What an absolute joke of a company. Will this deal help it get to $21? LOL!
