I’ll be travelling on Monday, so if something happens that Ramblings doesn’t cover right away, you’ll know why. But before everyone goes off into the weekend, here are some quick takes on the other news of the week.
Inteliquent (NASDAQ:IQNT, news, filings) added another distant partner to hook up with. They have announced a strategic alliance and NNI with Telekom Malaysia Berhad. Inteliquent will gain access to TM’s deep access in Malaysia, while TM will have easy layer-2 Ethernet access across Inteliquent’s global footprint. Southeast Asian operators have been growing more aggressive on the international front.
Another day another datacenter acquisition for Digital Realty Trust (NYSE:DLR, news, filings). They already bought a facility down in Austin a few days ago, and this one is also down in Texas. Digital Realty has purchased a 269,600 square foot facility in Dallas, located at 400 South Akard Street. It’s currently 85% leased to two tenants, with the remainder available to build out further.
Stackpop signed up an important new partner: zColo, the colo and interconnection arm of Zayo Group (news, filings). zColo will list its inventory on Stackpop’s platform, adding it to the company’s global inventory and thereby expanding its customer reach. zColo’s footprint will expand to 20 facilities after the acquisition of AboveNet, according to the company. I figure that deal’s close is just weeks away.
Open Data Centers has opened its first carrier neutral facility in Piscataway. The 8,000 square feet of usable raised floor space is their initial foray into the New Jersey data center market, we’ll surely be hearing more from these guys. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be on Tuesday.
Colt Group (LON:COLT, news) seems to like Iceland these days. Following their earlier partnership with Verne Global, the pan-European network operator has signed an agreement for data center capacity at Vern Global’s facility. Iceland’s geothermal power reserves are very attractive to European operators right now, given their 100% carbon-free status.
