Colo Roundup 12-21: Cologix, IO, Telx

December 21st, 2011 by · 2 Comments

Christmas is nearly upon us, but there’s still interesting stuff going on this week.  Here’s a quick take on several such items from the colo space this week:

Colo and interconnection provider Cologix (news) has expanded its relationship with Beanfield Metroconnect. Beanfield operates an extensive metro network in Toronto that I haven’t run into before — I’ll have to see about adding them to my maps and statistics sections if I can track down the data. In this case though, Beanfield is deploying equipment within Cologix’s 80,000 square foot facility at 1250 Rene Levesque in Montreal – apparently they are extending their footprint beyond Toronto.

Modular data center builder and operator IO (news) continued its holiday PR blitz with another customer contract.  Avnet Technology Solutions will be using their IDCaaS services at their giant IO Phoenix facility to support the company’s Data Center Lifecycle Services portfolio.  IO’s modular technology has been gaining traction all season.

On the west coast, Telx Group (news, filings) has added another customer to its Cloud Connection Center in San Francisco. Sunstream Networks offers cloud services over a fiber network to small and medium enterprises, boasting over 100 buildings on-net.  They will leverage Telx’s interconnectivity services to expand their footprint, lower latency, and simplify operations overall.
