Infinera: Thailand Floods Will Impact Q4

October 27th, 2011 by · 1 Comment

Infinera (NASDAQ:INFN, news, filings) announced yesterday that those floods in Thailand will also be hitting close to home, meaning in their wallet. Facilities of one of the company’s suppliers, Fabrinet, saw an escalation of the water’s impact.

Infinera is moving to alternate suppliers and making use of existing inventory, however the supply chain is likely to be disrupted. That means revenues will be delayed, and Infinera currently estimates the effect to be in the range of 5-15% for the fourth quarter.  That’s still in flux though.

You never can tell what natural disaster will crop up next I guess. However, I think Infinera should count itself lucky that this didn’t happen just after its DTN-X starts to ship next year.  Hopefully by then everything will be back to normal.
