Clearwire Adds Three More Markets

June 28th, 2010 by · 1 Comment

The WiMax parade just keeps on marching.  clwr formally opened the doors on three new substantial markets for its next generation wireless network.  One on the east coast, one on the Mississippi, and one in the mountains.  In St.Louis, some 1.2 million people across 600 square miles will be able to access the network.  In Salt Lake City, some 790,000 across 450 square miles from Ogden south to Provo will be covered.  And in Richmond, coverage extends through 350 square miles to some 530,000 people.    Together that’s about 2.5 million people added to its footprint.

Here are a few quick captures of the initial coverage in each metro area.

Each market complements others that have rolled out in neighboring metropolitan areas.  Clearwire’s Q2 subscriber growth should be interesting when we hear it in about a month.

  • Thanks Rob for the post. We are excited to add these three new cities as we continue towards our goal of covering over 120 million people by the years end. The latest post on the CLEAR blog has a full list of cities where CLEAR 4G is available, and a list of cities that will be covered by the end of 2010.

    Cheers,
    Jeff at Clearwire
