Cox Business is making further moves in the southwest, announcing a partnership with Phoenix NAP [1] in an effort to help them further serve the SME marketplace. Cox has built dual fiber entries into the 148,000 square foot facility, supported by redundant switching centers. According to Cox VP Hyman Sukiennik, “Cox Business is significantly expanding our fiber infrastructure in Arizona. Our alliance with the Phoenix NAP enterprise will provide a new layer of connectivity and security options for growing businesses in our competitive market.”
Cox Business has indeed been active in the Phoenix marketplace. Last year, they pulled fiber into i/o Datacenter’s new facility [2]. And in January, they announced plans [3] for a 108K square foot datacenter in the city at a cost of some $70M, with completion targeted for early next year. The metro area has been getting more than its share of attention lately from others as well, as Level 3 also announced an expansion in the area [4] aimed at mid-Market customers.
