Coast Guard Selects Level 3

coastguardlogo [1]The United States Coast Guard has selected lvlt for its networking and voice needs, according to a press release yesterday [2].  Level 3 will provide connectivity between some 10 sites within the DC area as well as voice services to each.  The company’s extensive metro footprint throughout the Washington DC region was obviously the mainforce behind its winning bid. The services will be provided under the WITS3 contract.

Level 3 has been pushing services for the federal government for several years now, and has lately begun to see a bit more traction.  All they need now is to actually get something out of the Networx Enterprise award they received but have yet to turn into anything monetary.  It always amazes me just how long government business takes to materialize.
